Inspired by and based upon a deep appreciation for classical architecture, this Colonial Revival alludes to the systematic language of columns, mouldings, rhythm, scale, and proportion. The symmetrical fenestration is articulated by doric columns, denticulated entablatures, modillion blocks set within the main roof cornice, detailed balustrades framing several porches and balcony spaces, and shuttered windows. To bestow its prominence, the primary entry porch is adorned with infilled reeding at the column entasis, a plaster swag onlay at the frieze, and a sunk channel and egg and dart profiled architrave. A deliberate and delicate approach was incorporated into the design to uphold and emphasize the proper architectural orders and detailing, yet maintain a familiar and approachable demeanor in presentation. Perched atop an elevated site amongst turn of the century architectural gems on a historic Wayzata road, the home offers panoramic views of Lake Minnetonka and its surrounding natural wetlands.
