Located in the beautiful White Oaks neighborhood of Edina, the initial phase of the renovation involved a complete gutting of the lower level, but also removal of the existing floor slab and the excavation of an additional foot for added ceiling height. The result is a series of warm, inviting spaces that reflect the European tastes of the owners. A dedicated wine room with imported street cobblestones and plaster barrel vaulted ceiling is a favorite spot for friends to gather at the tasting table. As a secondary phase, we embarked on a redesign of 1/2 of the main floor. The kitchen, which includes a French carved stone range hood and French pewter counter, was redesigned to increase both functionality and form. The pantry and rear entry were enlarged, while the once three-season porch was made year-round with new windows, in-floor heat, and a carved limestone fireplace.
