Time Honored Modern
Scroll to viewDesigned for a lovely young family relocating to outlying Minneapolis from Bronxville, New York, this modern renovation to an existing traditional home was designed and built to completion while the clients remained in New York. The family dreamt of a kitchen to be the main hub for interaction and congregation – to be livable, yet chic. They asked that their new home reflect the traditional east coast architecture that they are accustomed to, but outfitted for modern living. This request was played out by designing a modern mix which interjects traditional multi-step mouldings and classic leg details with sleek and simple lines. Tasked with maximizing storage and function (while concealing any counter clutter) in this long narrow room, we designed a 30 foot wall of hard-working contiguous cabinetry. The deep blue color and brass hardware on the long cabinetry wall create a graphic and modern contrast to the surrounding classic white cabinetry and marble countertops.
